Overview
SF6 is an extremely superior insulation and arc extinguishing medium and is widely used in high-voltage circuit breakers and substation equipment in the power industry worldwide. However, in closed rooms such as switch rooms equipped with SF6 equipment, it may be caused by poor ventilation. The lack of oxygen or the deposition of SF6 gas and its decomposition products in the room seriously threaten the health of the operation, maintenance personnel and even life. The SF6 gas leak alarm system can detect leaks and lack of oxygen in time, and display real-time SF6 and O2 information on site for operator analysis. According to the on-site situation, raise an alarm or automatically start the exhaust equipment to protect the health of the staff.
The SF6 gas leak alarm system currently on the market is based on the technical principle of a dual-wavelength non-dispersive infrared spectrometer (NDIR), sensitive and accurate detection of SF6 small leaks in the air, and the gas concentration data is uploaded to the host system via RS485 bus for real-time display; Concentration monitoring uses an oxygen sensor based on electrochemical principles to detect the oxygen content in the air to provide safety guarantee for on-site gas detection.
SF6 gas leak alarm system industry status
At present, the SF6 gas leak alarm system on the market is mainly used for oxygen detection here. The electrochemical oxygen sensor KE-25 of Figaro in Japan. The output value of the electrochemical oxygen sensor will continue to decay with the passage of time. In theory, its life is 5 years (in ordinary air), and the output value decay to 70% of the original value. But in fact, when the sensor decays in the air to an oxygen concentration output value of 18%, the lifetime attenuation value is 85%. Therefore, it is easy to cause false alarm failures, and it is not suitable for use in switchgear.
Considering that the maintenance period of power switchgear equipment is generally 1 year, gas sensors with good long-term stability are particularly important.
Recommended oxygen sensor
The oxygen sensor required for power switchgear should have high accuracy, high repeatability, long life; and simple to use, less maintenance and calibration. For this purpose, Gongcai recommends Lox-02, an oxygen sensor based on the principle of fluorescence quenching oxygen developed by British SST.
Fluorescent oxygen sensors are based on the principle that fluorescence encounters the quenching of oxygen molecules, and oxygen absorbs the blue part of the light spectrum. Oxygen will cause the quenching effect of the fluorescence excited by the special ruthenium compound, so that the light intensity of the emitted light changes, and the change time of the fluorescence intensity is related to the oxygen concentration. The principle of optical oxygen will not affect the measured ambient gas every time. No oxygen is consumed during detection, which is very different from traditional electrochemical oxygen sensors. The electrochemical oxygen sensor consumes oxygen to change the composition ratio of the measured gas. When calibrating the oxygen concentration to obtain accurate oxygen measurements, the sensor is completely inert and does not consume any oxygen to be measured. At the same time, the sensor has a built-in air pressure chip, and the built-in software has calculated the oxygen concentration. When in use, only need to send commands to read the oxygen partial pressure value, temperature, atmospheric pressure value and oxygen concentration value.
