Correct use of feedback suppressors

Feedback suppressors are generally self-adjusting, and some are also manually adjusted. The feedback suppressor is taken as an example to introduce the adjustment method.
1) When placing the speakers and microphones, be careful not to point directly to the speakers. Place the microphone in several major performance areas, either with a microphone holder or let the actor simulate the show.
2) Pull the output level of the mixer to the lowest position, turn on the mixer, FBX and other accessory devices in turn, and finally turn on the amplifier, then adjust the balance of each channel of the mixer, and set the main output of the sound reinforcement system to lowest.

3) Slowly push up the fader of the microphone channel. When the acoustic feedback is generated, the feedback suppressor will automatically suppress it, and the corresponding filter indicator will also light up. Repeated operation, when the filter channel is fully activated, the system The work is automatically paused. At this time, the blue light in the READY button lights up, indicating that the setting is basically completed, then the channel is bypassed, and another channel is debugged.
4) Use the “FIFTH OCTAVE” function key to select the filter: If you are using FBX when making music programs, it is recommended to use the 1/10 octave constant “Q” filter; in language programs, such as speech, phone For meetings, etc., it is recommended to use a filter with 1/5 octave width to suppress feedback more powerfully. The 1/5 octave filter can be activated by pressing the “FIFTH OCTAVE” button, when the internal LED will illuminate, press again and set to the standard 1/10 octave filter.

Issues to be aware of when using feedback suppressors

1) When using the microphone for feedback point suppression, it is best to use the microphone that is often used, and constantly change the position of the microphone during adjustment. You can also put background music or speak to the microphone during adjustment. In order to make the sound field more active, it is more convenient to find the acoustic feedback frequency accurately and quickly.
2) If there is a pressure limiter in the system, the pressure limiter should be directly connected, and then restored after the adjustment; other audio processing equipment in the system, such as equalizer, frequency divider, exciter, effect, etc., must be Adjusted to normal working conditions, can not pass through.

3) For the feedback suppressor that has been adjusted, do not press the Reset button during the live performance, because this will clear all the previously set parameters, and the feedback suppressor will return to the original state of the factory. This is very dangerous, the system is likely to have a strong howling, and in severe cases it will damage the equipment.
4) Some feedback suppressors have automatic and manual working modes. If the adjustment is considered perfect, the system will not generate acoustic feedback. That is, the feedback suppressor can be set to manual or locked working mode, so that the original parameters can be retained. , and the parameters that have been adjusted will not be changed due to equipment error detection or mis-starting.
5) The feedback suppressor cannot suppress the acoustic feedback and adjust the sound field. The sound field needs to have a special analog multi-segment equalizer or professional digital parametric equalizer.
