Japan's Stanley Electric launches new OLED taillights

Japanese lighting manufacturer Stanley ELectric showed the latest O- LED taillights at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show 2015, October 29-November 8.

The new O- led taillights are said to be more flexible in automotive lighting design and are expected to be commercially available by 2020.

When the OLED taillights are turned off, the almost transparent chrome-plated chrome is fully integrated into the other chrome-plated parts of the vehicle. When the OLED taillights are turned on, a strong red light is released. These designs can also be added to the unique look of the car.

Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) are more susceptible to heat, humidity, and environmental stress than light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that are currently in more advanced commercial stages. However, Japanese lighting manufacturers are still optimistic about the commercial use of OLED taillights in 2020, especially after the increase in thermal resistance.
