LED lights will hurt your eyes? How to choose LED lamps

As a new and efficient way of lighting, semiconductor lighting (LED) is gradually entering the homes of ordinary people. However, the particularity of the manufacturing process makes the LED light have a strong blue light. According to the net upload, if the blue light content exceeds a certain limit, it may have a negative impact on the human visual and biological rhythm. So, will the blue light of LED lamps on the market cause harm to the human body? How do people choose safe and reliable LED lamps?

According to Qian Wenlei from the Inspection Department of Shanghai Semiconductor Lighting Engineering Technology Research Center, the so-called blue light refers to a segment with a wavelength of 435 nm to 480 nm in visible light. Since the most commonly used technical solution for LED lamps on the market is "blue chip + yellow phosphor", the content of blue light in the LED light is relatively high. Medical research has shown that excessive blue light can cause photochemical damage to the retina, and can also affect the secretion of melatonin in the human body and disturb the biological clock.

However, this does not mean that LED lights are more eye-catching than other lamps. In the comparison experiment done by experts, the safety of LED lamps and energy-saving lamps of the same color temperature is almost the same. The so-called color temperature is the most common indicator of the spectral quality of the light source. The "warm light" that ordinary people call, the color temperature is low, and the color temperature of "cold light" is relatively high. After the color temperature is increased, the proportion of blue radiation increases, thus causing an increase in blue light. Another factor that affects the proportion of blue light is brightness. In general, fluorescent lamps and LED lamps of the same color temperature, as long as the brightness of the latter is not more than three times that of the former, is basically harmless. However, for some LED lamps that are too bright, the blue ratio may exceed the safe value. Zhang Shanrui, deputy director of the Institute of Electric Light Sources at Fudan University, said that as the LED technology matures, manufacturers no longer need to improve the color temperature and power of the lamps to achieve high lumens, and objectively reduce the possibility of excessive blue light.

In fact, whether it is LED lights, energy-saving lamps, or the "bathroom" used in the bathroom, there may be a problem of excessive blue light. At present, there is a unified standard for the safety of light source blue light in the world. Prof. Tong Tongsheng, professor of optoelectronics at Zhejiang University, revealed that the latest standards of China will also be released in 2014. As long as it is strictly implemented in the relevant standards of the production of LED lamps, ordinary citizens can rest assured to buy. According to reports, the industry has a grading system for blue light hazards. The safest level is 0, which means the lowest blue light content. The highest risk is level 3. Generally, indoor LED lamps are in the range of 0 to 1 level, and lamps of level 2 and above will be indicated by labels in the future.

Experts also have tips on how to buy lamps. For example, when purchasing indoor LED lamps, try to choose a diffuser or diffuser, you can't directly see the chip, and the light points are not concentrated. When purchasing a bath, it is best to choose a color temperature of no more than 2200k (Kelvin). It is said that the "tubular" Yuba has a lower color temperature than the "bulb-like" Yuba, and the Blu-ray safety factor is also higher.
