According to sources from Taiwan's TFT LCD panel makers, Xinqimei has cut the price of its CCFL-backlit LCD TV panels to clear its inventory as new Chi Meimei (CMI) plans to increase the production of LED-backlit LCD TVs.
According to sources, the current price of CCFL-backlit LCD TV panels is about $5-10, which is lower than the market average. The company is expected to clear its CCFL-backlit LCD TV panel inventory at the end of the second quarter of 2010.
The source also said that the new Chi Mei 32-inch CCFL backlit LCD TV application is about $3, lower than the market average price.
According to sources, in the third quarter of 2010, as more and more manufacturers began to introduce new LED-backlit LCD TVs in the peak season and alleviated the shortage of LED chips, LED-backlit LCD TV panels are expected to be tight.
According to sources, in 2010, shipments of LED-backlit LCD TVs are expected to reach 36 million units, accounting for 20% of total LCD TV panel shipments.
Sources pointed out that in 2011, large-size LED-backlit LCD TV panel shipments are expected to exceed the shipment of large-size CCFL-backlit LCD TV panels.
Sources said that in late May, LCD panel prices are expected to drop by about $1-3, while notebook and LCD TV prices will fall by $2 and $1-3, respectively.
