Beijing, April 2, 2013-A few days ago, Texas Instruments (TI) announced the launch of a complete reference design that provides designers with all the analog and embedded integrated circuits needed to build an automotive emergency call (eCall) system (IC). Vehicles equipped with the eCall system will automatically call the emergency service center in the event of an accident. This reference solution includes TI ’s AIC-Q100 compliant analog IC, which helps customers accelerate eCall system design.
The TI Automotive eCall reference design uses the TPA3111D1-Q1 high-efficiency mono Class D audio amplifier and the TPS43330-Q1 single-boost, dual-synchronous buck controller that supports ultra-low quiescent current. The highly robust and low-cost solution it provides can be expanded for other automotive applications such as remote communication, stolen vehicle tracking, and hybrid car / electric car voice generation. In addition, the design also integrates the TLV70033-Q1 low quiescent current regulator and MSP430F2232 16-bit ultra-low power microcontroller. Key features and advantages of TI's automotive eCall reference design :
Clear and loud sound quality: TPA3111D1-Q1 not only supports 8Ω 10W output power, the efficiency exceeds 90%, but also supports enhanced EMI suppression, which can improve voice immunity. This ensures clear and loud sound quality and ensures effective operation in eCall systems where external conditions can sometimes severely interfere with emergency calls;
Emergency work: The TPS43330-Q1 pre-boost circuit not only supports car start / stop, but also increases the backup battery power supply voltage to make it work normally when the input voltage is as low as 2V. The components in this reference design are combined with a wide supply voltage of Class D amplifiers from 8V to 26V, which can be powered by a single LiFePO4 battery to prevent the car battery connection from being cut off in an accident;
System protection: The components provided by this system can provide overvoltage and load dump protection for input transients up to 40V. In addition, Class D amplifiers can also provide power cycling and open speaker load detection at initial power-up. These features not only ensure that the system remains robust in harsh automotive applications, but also simplify failure analysis.
