According to reports from foreign media on December 6, Rinspeed, a developer of Swiss concept cars, recently announced the Snap concept, a concept for autonomous driving, which will be displayed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January next year. The RinspeedSnap concept car consists of two parts, one is a skateboard-shaped chassis made of high-abrasion material, and the other is a passenger safety cockpit. The two parts are easily separated and the passenger cockpit section can be transformed into a camping RV or a mobile shop as needed.
The core of the concept car is the chassis of the skateboarding model, which includes highly wear-resistant mechanical components. If you think that the design is outdated, Rinspeed can be replaced at any time, and the cockpit portion will last longer. This means that the car's IT system components can be replaced as the base changes, keeping the software and navigation system up-to-date.
MHP, a part of Porsche’s IT consulting firm, will run a multi-functional cockpit and skateboard chassis market for Rinspeed. The Snap uses an electric power system provided by ZF and two steering axles, and is equipped with a tire size 225/35-18. In the Snap cockpit is equipped with leather seats, wireless charging system and a large number of multimedia touch screens. In addition to the fully automated driving system using lidar sensors, Snap's in-car software also includes “personal assistants†that can remember personal settings, help with work matters, and propose restaurant recommendations. Each passenger has three displays available. The cockpit design uses a dimming glass element similar to a Boeing jetliner. Outside the cockpit, there are also six projectors shining on the window glass that can display information for other road users. The Snap's cockpit has a portable storage function that can be transformed into a mobile “urban ranch†where passengers can grow strawberries and mint in the cabin and join the tea at any time.
This car is the 24th concept car developed by Rinspeed, which focuses on the concept of future travel in the era of autonomous driving. The car will also be on display at the Geneva Motor Show next year.
