Vishay launches new LED lighting panel with luminous flux of up to 2160 lumens

Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the expansion of its optoelectronics portfolio with the introduction of new LED lighting panels for road and industrial overhead lighting applications, the VLSL30 and VLSL31. The two development kits give designers all the materials they need to speed up the design process with Vishay's solid-state lighting solutions.

In addition to the 4x6 LED panels, the development kit includes mirrors and driver modules that provide designers with the basic tools needed to design, allowing developers to focus on bringing lighting products to market quickly, while using energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly, long-life LED lighting technology.

Vishay offers two panels for users to choose from: VLSL30 panel with cool white LED, color temperature range of 5000K ~ 7000K, luminous flux of 2160 lumens; VLSL31 panel with natural color white LED, color temperature range of 3800K ~ 5000K, luminous flux of 1900 lumen.

The VLSL30 and VLSL31 lighting panels contain 4 strings of LEDs, each with 6 LEDs, mounted on a single-sided single-layer PCB with copper. The copper substrate on the PCB quickly transfers heat away from the LED, extending the LED's performance and longevity, while the reflective white surface reflects a small amount of incident light. The dimensions of the panel are 135mm x 121mm.

The optional VLSL3-DU driver has an output power of up to 56W and features eight boost regulated constant current channels, each supporting up to six LEDs. The drive powers two luminaire panels with reverse polarity protection, closed loop regulated current control, 12VDC input with undervoltage and overvoltage control, and load dump protection. The user can program each panel to respond to signals from ambient light sensors. Depending on the level of ambient light, the driver can set the pulse width modulation to one of four settings: 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25%. The panel also has an RS232 input interface through which the controller can be custom programmed.

Aluminum alloy mirrors can be used to control the lighting mode. If no mirrors are used, the VLSL30 and VLSL31 power modules or light panels have a viewing angle of 120° in all directions. If a VLSL-REFL01 mirror is used, the viewing angle can be constrained to a range of 55° in one direction.

Panels, drives, and mirrors are sold separately or as a kit to simplify the development process. The VSL30-LDK uses cool-colored white LEDs, and the VSL31-LDK uses natural-colored white LEDs. Each kit provides 1 light panel, 5 mirrors and 1 drive.
