However, curved TVs are still not mature enough and still have shortcomings compared to flat TVs. Here are five points:
First, the requirements for light are higher. Obviously, non-planar glass will produce some strange light reflections, as well as curved screens. So, the ordinary spotlight TV wall may not be very suitable for curved TV, you need to do some extra lighting design.
Second, the wide-ranging perspective is relative. Although the curved TV has the advantages of a certain viewing angle, it is also relative. Objectively speaking, when you look at a curved TV at an angle of more than 35 degrees from the side, you will feel a bit distorted because the edges of the screen actually bend inwards.
Third, curved screens need to be bigger. Referring to the IMAX movie screen example, the curved screen will play an advantage in a larger area to form a wraparound viewing experience. So if a flat-screen TV is 55 inches in size, a curved TV needs at least 65 inches to achieve similar results.
Fourth, it cannot be hung on the wall. Obviously, the curved TV is not suitable for hanging on the wall, because the curved, protruding edge has certain hidden dangers and is not beautiful.
Fifth, the price is expensive. Although the price of curved TVs has decreased compared to the beginning, it is still relatively expensive, which is related to the higher cost of flexible OLED panels. Of course, as Samsung and LG begin mass production of curved screens, the cost may drop, but it will take some time.
