On October 26th, Dongfang Jinbao reported that Zhengzhou started construction of "LED solid-state lighting industrialization application demonstration base" with an annual output of 800,000 sets of LED street lamps in Zhengzhou High-tech Zone. If the street lights in Zhengzhou City are replaced with such lights, it can save 100 million kWh per year.
The base project is mainly led by Shengmao Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., a leading LED industry in the province. The total investment of the project is 2 billion yuan. It is expected to produce 800,000 sets of LED street lamps and 30 million LED lighting sources per year, which can create more than 8,000 jobs.
LED technology is applied to street lamps, which is 60% more energy efficient than the high-pressure sodium lamps commonly used in Zhengzhou. In April this year, Zhengzhou City was approved as a pilot city for LED lighting in the “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities†of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The reporter learned from the Zhengzhou City Lighting and Lighting Management Office that there are currently 82,000 street lamps in Zhengzhou City. The relevant person in charge of the High-tech Zone Management Committee estimated that only 82,000 street lamps were replaced with LED street lamps, saving about 100 million kWh per year.
