Data gloves CaptoGlove landing Kickstarter crowdfunding

CaptoGlove today announced the launch of Kickstarter Crowdfunding to raise funds for its new wireless wearable controller. The controller has been researched and developed for 5 years and was presented at the GDC conference held last month.

The device was originally designed to assist hand movement recovery in stroke patients. But later CaptoGlove developed the technology into a wearable wireless controller for all types of virtual reality. This device uses Flexpoint's flexible bending sensor, as well as textiles that can be washed and breathable.

CaptoGlove connects via Bluetooth and is compatible with all VR headsets and iOS/Android smartphones. CaptoGlove claims that the product can support "everything PC game, including past and present." In addition, the gestures used can be customized through free apps on iOS, Android and PC.

Paolo Trotta, CaptoGlove's executive director, said: “Human hands are the best controllers in the world. With CaptoGlove, you can now extend this natural accuracy, response time, and efficiency to a range of tasks and devices.”

Kickstarter crowdfunding will end on April 24, 2017. CaptoGlove hopes to raise 50,000 U.S. dollars. Support options include $1 (exclusive update) and $160 (single CaptoGlove), while $599 can get a pair of CaptoGlove and additional sensors to further increase accuracy.
