According to Gartner data, global PC shipments reached 62.1 million units in the second quarter of this year. This is the first quarter of year-on-year growth in global PC shipments since the first quarter of 2012. Gartner chief analyst Mikako Kitagawa said that the growth of PC shipments in the second quarter of 2018 was driven by rising corporate market demand, but the decline in consumer market shipments offset this trend. In the consumer sector, although PC user behavior has changed, the basic market structure still exists and continues to affect market growth.
Among global PC shipments in the second quarter, Lenovo's shipments increased the most, which was the highest growth figure since the first quarter of 2015. With the establishment of a joint venture between Lenovo and Fujitsu, in the second quarter of this year, the world's top five PC manufacturers still accounted for three-quarters of the world's total shipments. HP has achieved year-on-year growth in PC shipments for the third consecutive quarter. In addition, the company has maintained steady growth in all regions except the United States. The increase in shipments in other regions far exceeded the regional average.
