More than 70,000 street lamps in Taipei have been converted to LEDs

There are more than 150,000 street lamps in Taipei, half of which are mercury street lights scattered in parks and streets, and the other half are high-pressure sodium lamps commonly used in the streets. Since the LED lamp is more energy-efficient than the mercury lamp and saves energy and carbon, the Works Bureau has been replacing it since 2010. Up to now, it has completed 70,288 roads and garden lights replacement. It is estimated that the annual electricity bill will be saved and reduced. 30 million kilograms of carbon emissions, equivalent to the reduction of carbon in 77 Daan Forest Park.

Chen Dengwen, deputy director of the Park Street Light Management Office, pointed out that when Liu Mingchuan was appointed as the first Taiwan governor in 1885, he set up the first street lamp of the whole Taiwan. Among them, LED lamps have good luminous efficiency and color rendering, and have a long life, so in recent years, they have gradually replaced high-energy mercury lamps.

Chen Dengwen said that 1 盏 LED lamp saves about 1.8 kWh per day than mercury lamp, and saves 1360 yuan in electricity cost in one year. If the city's original 78,000 2,288 mercury street lamps are used for calculation, after the replacement is completed, the annual electricity consumption will be reduced by 47.88 million kWh, that is, nearly 100 million yuan. In terms of carbon emissions, one Daan Forest Park will absorb about one year. 389 tons of carbon dioxide, after switching to LED lights, reduce carbon emissions by 30 million kilograms per year, equivalent to 77 parks to reduce carbon.

He said that there are currently more than 7,000 mercury lamps used in underground passages in the city, which are expected to be replaced next year. The high-pressure sodium lamp used in the main road is also very energy-saving and energy-saving. When the LED lamp performance is more improved in the future, consider the update.
