The UC3903 series of integrated circuits can simultaneously respond to over- and under-voltage signals of four voltages. The internal operational amplifier inverter allows at least one signal to be a negative voltage. It contains internal and undervoltage comparators, general-purpose operational amplifiers, power supply overvoltage sensing circuits, overvoltage and undervoltage delay circuits, start-up latch circuits, and 3-channel OC (open collector) gate output circuits.
The fault window adjustment circuit inside the integrated circuit can easily realize the programming control of the over-voltage threshold voltage. The threshold voltage changes with reference to 2.5V, and has an input hysteresis related to the window width. In the event of a fault, the OC3903's three OC gate outputs can sink more than 30mA of load current. These three OC gate outputs correspond to overvoltage (OV), undervoltage (UV), and power OK. In addition, the UC3903 includes a separate operational amplifier that can perform other auxiliary functions such as 2.5V output as the reference voltage, sense and amplification feedback error signals. In order to prevent the malfunction of the startup overvoltage indication, the UC3903 also has a start latch function.
The operating voltage of the UC3903 is 8 to 40V and the operating current is 7mA. The device package is available in PLCC-20, LCC-20 surface mount packages and dual in-line DIP18 plastic, ceramic and surface mount packages. Its internal structure is shown in the figure.
