Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) recently announced the launch of "TC358870XBG", which is the industry's first [1] 4K high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI®) to dual-channel MIPI® DSI bridge chip that supports video format conversion. The product has begun to provide prototypes, and plans to put into mass production in September.
This new integrated circuit (IC) provides ultra-high-definition image quality (3840 x 2160 pixels) with a resolution of up to 4K through a dual DSI interface, and a refresh rate of 30 frames per second (fps). In addition, the product also supports WQXGA (2560 x 1600) at 60 frames / second refresh rate and Full HD resolution at 120 fps. Its low latency feature enhances the performance of real-time gaming applications and virtual reality products using high-resolution LCD displays.
At the same time, the new integrated circuit also supports the conversion of HDMI® audio input streams to I2S, TDM or SLIMbus® (serial low-power inter-chip media bus), which can be used in various applications.
